It’s market share time again – who’s winning? Windows, of course.

ArsTechnica posted the latest operating system market share statistics.  As of December, 2009, Windows is still the lions share of the market at 92.21%. OS/X is a very distant second at 5.11% and Linux trails at 1.02%.

Putting things in perspective

The hot technical topic is alternative operating systems. But, with the release of Windows 7, let’s put things into perspective.
Here are the estimated Worldwide OS usage figures for October 2009:

70.48 – Windows XP
18.83 – Windows Vista
2.82 – OS/X 10.5
2.15 – Windows 7
1.17 – OS/X 10.6

What do those weird Mac symbols mean?

Mac’s like their inexplicable keyboard symbols. Mac documentation, both for Apple software and third-party software make heavy use of keyboard symbols and often don’t take time to explain them. It takes a little hunting around to find what the characters mean.

Ubuntu Sucks

Well, at least Greg Kroah-Hartman thinks so.  He gave the keynote speech at the Linux Kernel Hackers conference.  Greg is a key hacker on the Linux kernel.
